The Missionary Training Center (MTC) in the Philippines was officially opened on October 3, 1983. The first batch of missionaries was trained by capable staff of teachers and directors for a period of 10 days. There were 29 Filipino missionaries, 19 Elders and 10 Sisters, who came from different provinces in the Philippines. This small group of missionaries was followed by thousands of others sharing the restored gospel of Jesus Christ not only in the Philippines but in neighboring countries as well.
The purpose of the missionary training center grew out of the plan of salvation. It helps missionaries prepare to invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end.
In support of this purpose, all involved at a missionary training center participate in one or more of the following:
Through the thousand missionaries it has trained, the MTC has brought told and untold blessings to thousands of Filipinos and other Asian who have now heard and accepted the restored gospel. The membership of the Church has grown because of the untiring service given by the dedicated, hard working and valiant missionaries.
